Lollapalooza is a 3-day music festival that happens every August in Chicago’s Grant Park. This year, Kris and I bought tickets to test the waters on one of the three days. And, boy, were those waters tested! We showed up, were able to hear one song, and were then evacuated from the Park as a dangerous storm was approaching. Luckily, we were able to head back in a couple of hours later and catch the major shows we were hoping to see, but it made for an eventful first time at Lolla!
First arriving at Lolla and ready to get our jam on.
100,000 people attend Lollapalooza EACH DAY. I read that 60,000 were in the park when they had to evacuate it.
We met up with some friends at a nearby hotel bar and had a cocktail while we watched the storm come and go.
Back in the action! Lots of kids making the best (??) out of a muddy situation. Gross.
We watched the Bloc Party show, which was really good, and were able to enjoy beautiful skyline views as a bonus. This was really impressive. We live in such a cool city.
At the end of the night, Kris and I watched a bit of Red Hot Chili Peppers together, then I left to go catch Frank Ocean’s show, but then he met me for the last few songs of the set. We really killed it at Lolla! Haha. Also, I got caught in a mosh pit trying to make my way out of the RHCP show. It was crazy (and slightly scary)!
Red Hot Chili Peppers:
On Sunday, we took it easy in the morning, but went on a big bike ride in the afternoon, ending up at this spot:
Isn’t that gorgeous?? On the bike ride home, we stopped off for a quick refresher at Goose Island Brewing Company as a great end to a great weekend. Hope you all have a good week! xo
